Jim hails from the Wisconsin Dells, WI area. He graduated from UW-Madison with a B.A. in psychology, also taking business and finance classes. Jim began his career as an independent financial advisor in 1989. He specializes in working with individual investors and also works in the small business retirement plan area, assisting companies with the design and ongoing support and servicing of various company retirement plans such as 401Ks.
Jim loves to meet new people and hear their life stories. He connects with each client on a personal level, trying to understand their regrets and fears, as well as learn their future goals, plans, and aspirations. He takes a holistic approach to financial planning, looking at all facets of a person's life to discover what motivates them and what they are trying to accomplish in life. He finds great satisfaction in helping his clients pursue comfortable, financially secure retirements.
Communication is so important. Jim is especially adept at communicating complex financial concepts in such a way that clients can understand. An avid reader, he makes his way through several financial publications before every business day, preparing him for what lies ahead.
Community service and giving back is also important to Jim. For more than 25 years, he has been a member and is past president of his local Rotary club, the majority of that time serving on its board of directors. Baraboo, Wisconsin has a historic treasure The Al Ringling Theatre, which is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, but the theatre was in sad disrepair. In 2015, the 100 year-old theatre went dark for 8 months while it was completely restored to its original splendor, a feat made possible by a $3M capital campaign that was 25 years in the making, of which Jim was an integral part. Jim currently serves on the board of the busy theatre, that now holds a variety of theatre, dance, and live music performances.
Jim has 2 adult children. He and his wife Bernadette Greenwood PG, a geological environmental consultant, reside in Baraboo. His passions outside of work include fishing, hiking, scuba diving, downhill skiing, travel and good dark chocolate.
